In short: the 2018 campaign for a documentary festival that believes asking questions is more important than finding answers.
In long: World’s largest documentary festival – IDFA – pushes boundaries, encourages new ideas to be shared and amplifies new voices. IDFA also believes in the uniting potential of documentary film. The documentaries screened at IDFA provide insight in different lifestyles and discourses that we may not be so familiar with. They create a certain level of understanding of a topic, but always leave room for new questions. IDFA does not aim to provide answers to the questions the audience may have. They want to give their viewers the possibility and the reason to pose them.
That’s why this year’s campaign is an ode to asking questions rather than finding answers. Questions about the documentaries IDFA shows, questions about you viewing those documentaries, but most of all, questions that provoke curiosity. A transparent font and blocked film images will make everyone question even more.
