Nederland leest is an organisation that promotes reading among Dutch citizens. To do so, every year, during one month, they hand out a free book to members of the library. But this year (2016) everything was different.
Due to a new law, the function of the Dutch libraries shifted from a place to read & borrow books, to a place where you can laugh, talk, gossip, sing and debate. Just handing out a book wouldn’t cover this new function, so the libraries decided to combine this year’s book-gift with organising debates. Everybody (not only members of the libraries) can give their opinion on one statement, in return they can choose a free book out of a series of three.
To communicate all this, we tried to make it visually as simple as possible: a book for your opinion, visually translated to people’s mouths on the book.
